REoaCM- January 17th, 2006

I'm back from my one week layover and today is also the first day of the Spring Semester so its a great time to present another edition of REoaCM.

-Currently Im listening to Dane Cook thanks to Napster so I can get it for free. This guy is absolutely hilarious and amazing. Some of the shit he says is just wow. I love the whole car alarm thing. Hellooooo, this is a caaar. Gasoline makes me run... "There are just some sounds out there that make you want to punch a baby!"

-So I'm back from my Panama Canal Cruise. It was very interesting to say the least. There were soooo many old people on this ship that it wasnt even funny. Just getting through the metal detectors was hilarious as all of them were beeping. Gosh those metal hips. And then they were involved in every event in order to get free stuff. The worst was three on three basketball. I had to play against an all 70 year old team. Oh gosh it was painful. A guy actually fell and messed up his knee which wasnt a good thing. They were nice but it was a little depressing to see all those old people.

-So basically half of my entertainment was talking to staff. Yes staff who were absolutely amazing to talk to but still. I would spend my afternoons talking to Cheyenne, Laurie, and Willem. Willem was definitely a cool guy and well Cheyenne is amazing. She got me dressed up in a towel with a child size life vest and a shower cap and scrub to lip sync splish splash i was taking a bath. And the moral support to sing Karaoke was cool too. Especially when I did Shake your bon bon in front of the judges. I got massacred. Sadly about all this is that there is actually tape of all this. God I hope it doesnt get out.

-Finally my entertainment was the few other people that were my age on the ship. There were like 9 college students actually 8 and one who was 23 but she was cool too. She is going to be an actress and I hope she succeeds. Well the main group for the first like 6 nights was Brett, Robyn, Maggie, and me. It was definitely interesting. Amazingly it took 6 nights for the other souls to appear which added to the fun because the more the merrier of course. The last of the entertainment was getting drunk during the trip. I basked on others alcohol for two nights and bought very cheap alcohol to get drunk. So I got drunk three nights on the cruise. The beer in Panama was actually only 35 cents a can! It was a little watery yeah but I think it was awesome and after 9 I got drunk. I swear I was a millionaire there. I bought a small chicken pizza, garlic bread, and 9 beers for 6 bucks!! Love the place. Its like college haven.

-The trip itself was worth it for one thing and that was seeing the Panama Canal itself. The place was built 90 years ago but actually sailing through it was impressive. The locks and the technology of it that they still use something like that 90 years later is amazing. I think it made it worth the trip and some of the boredom I endured. Costa Rica was awesome too and well Aruba and Curacao have always been lovely in my eyes. I'll never go on Holland America again because of the boredom factor so next cruise of mine will most likely be on Royal Caribbean where i get amazing benefits for being a prolific cruiser.

-So the Spring Semester has started for me today and to be honest I felt great. I didnt really pack myself with a hefty workload and more important I love my first two classes. Something odd is that I didnt see one familiar face today at all! Everyone seemed new and lost which made me feel cool since Ive been through it all and they are the freshman/transfer students. I think it'll be an awesome semester and Im going to try to make an effort to go to the final 7 games remaining in the basketball season at home. Maybe meet some new people but more importantly keep hanging out with my UM grupito.

-So my love life has changed of late. Doing different stuff and going on a date here and there. I have one on Friday so wish me success. Its actually a third date with someone out there so we'll see where it leads. Wish me luck. I like the girl.

-Final thought: I was inspired once again to really be a teacher again by some random lady at UM. They will even mentor me for the first three yrs after graduation which they say are the toughest and the speech she gave about teachers really touched me. So yeah no doubt in what i want to do.
